DIY Charm Bracelet & Necklace Assembly Guide | Pretty Pickie

Pretty Pickie Charm Assembly Guide

Follow these simple steps to create your beautiful charm bracelet or necklace. Our guided instructions make it easy to design your own unique piece!

Laying out your design

Step 1: Plan Your Design

Begin by laying out your design. You'll need:

• One jump ring for each charm

• Two jump rings for the ends of the chain

• One clasp

We suggest placing the heaviest piece in the center for balance. For necklaces, position the charms lower on the chain so they show in the front when worn.

Checking alignment

Step 2: Check Alignment & Spacing

As you add each charm, check the alignment and ensure proper spacing.

Many crafters find it helpful to count the links between charms so they're spaced evenly. This creates a balanced, professional look!

Closing jump rings

Step 3: Closing The Jump Ring

Once the chain and charm are inside the jump ring:

1. Grab your other plier to hold one side of the jump ring stable

2. Push the right side of the jump ring backwards to close it completely

The jump ring should close with no gap to prevent the charm from falling off.

Attaching to chain

Step 4: Attach To The Chain

Carefully hold one end of your jump ring and slide the other end through the center link of your chain.

Make sure the charm is properly positioned before closing the jump ring.

Step 5: Working With Charms

For necklaces, start with your center charm to ensure proper spacing!

For bracelets, you can start on one end or in the center.

Clamp the bottom of the jump ring and slide one end through the hole in your charm.

Opening jump rings

Step 6: Opening Jump Rings

To open a jump ring properly:

1. Hold one plier vertically to stabilize half of the jump ring

2. Use your other plier to pull the other half forward to open

This technique prevents distorting the circular shape of your jump ring.

Step 7: Final Layout

Now that you understand the techniques, plan your entire piece:

• Place the heaviest charm in the center

• For necklaces, keep charms on the lower portion of the chain

• Make sure to include jump rings for each charm and the clasp

• Check your spacing plan before assembly
