How to Adjust Your Watch Size at Home
How to Tighten Your Watch Size at Home
Make Your Watch Fit Better by Removing Extra Links
Got a new watch that’s a little too loose? If your bracelet-style women’s watch spins, slides, or feels too big on your wrist — don’t worry. You can resize it at home in just a few minutes with a simple watch link remover tool (like the one we include or recommend with our watches).
This guide will walk you through how to remove watch links, tighten the band, and get the perfect fit — no jeweler needed.
🔧 What You’ll Need
- A women’s watch with a metal link or bracelet-style band
- A watch link remover tool (see images below)
- A small tray or bag to keep your extra links and pins
📏 Step 1: See How Many Links to Remove
- Try the watch on your wrist.
- Pinch the extra space to see how many links feel too loose.
- Plan to remove the same number of links from each side of the clasp if possible — this keeps your watch centered on your wrist.
🔍 Step 2: Look for the Arrows
On the inside of your metal watch band, you’ll see small arrows on the removable links. These show the correct direction to push the pins out.
✅ Only remove links that have arrows.
❌ Don’t force pins in the wrong direction — that could damage your watch.
🛠️ Step 3: Remove the Links
- Place the band in your link remover tool (see photos below).
- Line up the pin with the tool’s needle.
- Slowly turn the knob to push the pin out.
- Once the pin is halfway through, gently pull it out by hand.
Repeat this on both sides of the link you want to remove.
💡 Your tool may come with extra tips. If one gets bent, just switch it out.
🔁 Step 4: Reconnect the Band
After removing the right number of links:
- Line up the open ends of the band.
- Insert one of the pins back in.
- Use the tool (or press gently with your hand) to push the pin in fully.
Make sure it’s flush with the edge of the band.
✅ Step 5: Try It On
Put the watch back on and check the fit.
- It should feel snug but not tight.
- You should be able to fit one fingertip under the band comfortably.
- If it’s still too big, repeat the steps to remove one more link.

🧼 Tips for Success
- Always save the links and pins you remove — you may want to size up later.
- Only adjust links with arrows. Some links are fixed and not meant to be removed.
- Go slow. It’s better to remove fewer links first, then test and adjust.
💬 Common Questions
Q: Can I resize any women’s watch at home?
A: Most bracelet-style women’s watches with visible link pins can be adjusted this way. Leather bands or mesh styles adjust differently.
Q: What if I lose a pin?
A: You can usually find replacements online or at a local jeweler. Some of our watches include extra pins in the packaging.
